Tell us a little bit about Miss Lulu’s Travelling Bar.

Miss LuLu’s Travelling Bar is a boutique bar service fully equipped to provide a bespoke experience to clients seeking something a little bit fancy. We have two chic bar options and a team to curate a menu full of your favourite refreshments. You provide the alcohol, and we will provide the service needed to create a memorable event for you and your guests.

Where did the idea for your business come from?

Miss LuLu’s was inspired by a desire to provide those in our community with something extra to elevate their events. Instead of a schooner or a glass of house wine, why not offer your guests a sneaky Cosmo or a flirty French Martini?

It was also born out of a desire for a career shift after the pandemic and planning my own COVID-affected wedding. A daydream turned into a reality when my partner in crime and husband, Brad, used his boiler making experience to help set this crazy idea into motion. We purchased a horse float and Miss LuLu’s was well on her way to providing those sneaky sips for folk longing for a unique bar experience.

Who is Miss LuLu?

Miss LuLu, my cheeky alter-ego, seeks to be a point of difference. With my designer, we fleshed out a character that would appeal to our target audience and carry out that playful and sassy vibe for the business. Miss LuLu pays homage to my middle name Louise, with a bit of flair.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of owning your own business?

The best part of owning Miss LuLu’s has been the happiness we have brought to our clients. Whether we help them celebrate their love at a wedding or provide fun at a hens party, we want to jazz up those special moments in people’s lives. In the famous words of Marie Kondo, we want to do what “sparks joy.”

What challenges did you have to overcome at the beginning of your journey?

Launching a new business while juggling full-time work has definitely been a challenge. Learning the ins and outs of management while kicking goals in my profession has taught me the importance of time management and organisation.

What advice would you give another woman looking to start her own business?

Your goals and desires are essential, and with hard work and passion, you can achieve them. Be confident, brave, and take a risk. It will be worth it in the long run.

How did you spend your days before starting Miss Lulu’s?

By trade, I am a Music teacher in the secondary context. I spend my days fostering my love of creativity and music with my students. I’ve also dabbled in local amateur theatre and indulge in professional shows at every opportunity.

Do you have a woman leader as a mentor, or are there specific women who inspired you and why?

Larni Christie and her red heels! Her presence inspires me to place the bar high in all I do and own it! A determined chick with a fierce attitude will inspire anyone around her.

What’s on the horizon for Miss Lulu’s in 2023?

We’re focusing on building our brand and providing people of the North West with a unique and memorable experience at their next event. Looking to give your wedding something special? Then we are the service for you!
