AMY CRAWFORD - URALLA PHYSIOTHERAPY

Amy Crawford recently brought her many years’ experience in the physiotherapy and Pilates space to the little town of Uralla, opening a studio that focuses on many aspects of movement in a place that previously didn’t provide any of these services. In doing so, she is making movement accessible, achievable and enjoyable for everyone.

Tell us a little bit about Uralla Physiotherapy.

Uralla Physiotherapy was established in 2022 and is the local physiotherapy and pilates studio in Uralla.

The contemporary, light filled studio can be found down the lane off Uralla’s main street. Reformer Pilates classes include beginner, intermediate and pre & post-natal. Our physiotherapy services range from in clinic sessions, to home visits and hydrotherapy, to personalised gym-based programs.

What inspired you to start Uralla Physiotherapy?

When I relocated to Uralla with my now husband in 2021, I was looking for a full-time job as a Physiotherapist and a Pilates studio to exercise in and there was neither! So, I took this opportunity and opened a clinic that provided both. That was how the journey began and I haven’t looked back.

What makes Uralla Physiotherapy unique?

We are a movement-focused clinic specialising in Pilates, rehabilitation programs and supervised exercise for pre and post-natal women. Our focus is on individualised and supportive physical activity.

What’s the best piece of business advice that you have ever received?

Another local business owner said to me “start off how you wish to finish”. This was so helpful in terms of looking at the big picture and focusing on longevity.

What have you sacrificed (both personally and professionally) at any given stage of your career?

As I am sure any small business owner will attest to, there is a lot of time and energy put into the start-up phase. There have been countless evenings and weekends taken up with establishing the business to ensure my vision for the studio and the needs of the community are aligned. Of course, with this comes plenty of help from family and friends!

What’s on the horizon for Uralla Physiotherapy in 2023?

Our clinic continues to grow so we are looking forward to bringing more staff on board and expanding our services. We were lucky enough to receive a grant from New England Solar for a free community Mum’s and Bubs class which commenced in February.

Where do you envision yourself in five years? More busy days in the clinic surrounded by those who love movement; clients, allied health professionals and Pilates instructors. I am also looking forward to collaborating with other like-minded people in the health space.
